We created t-shirts with a simple idea to send a sign to people around us that there's always someone close who sees them, loves them, and is struggling and celebrating right alongside them.
Everyone shares a feeling of being the only one who thinks, feels, or loves a certain way. That feeling can leave you lonely and isolated, but it is not true. We wanted to find a way to let young people know this truth, that they are seen and loved.
The Trevor Project is the organization that speaks our truth. They support young people who need help the most. Our kids are not gay, but their and our friends are. As parents of teenagers who still vividly remember our experience growing up, we know how difficult understanding and voicing our feelings can be.
Hearing our kids talk about their thoughts and feelings is wonderful. But many kids, for their own unique reasons, don't have anyone they feel comfortable talking to, or sometimes they just don't know how.
Our first design was inspired by every person who lives, loves, and is finding their way in this world. No questions, no judgment, just love and support.
Why the Trevor Project? Because it feels like the best answer to our question: Who does good for and by young people. Simple, obvious.
